Here are some of the highlights:

Jira Ops / Acquisition of Ops Genie

Jira Ops is a brand new product within the Atlassian family that rounds off the product portfolio quite nicely. It aims to centralize all necessary information and automate actions around incident handling. It comes with built-in integrations for most of the commonly used incident-related tools such as Slack, Statuspage, Ops Genie, Pager Duty or Xmatters. The idea is that the Jira workflow engine is being used to help teams guide through the required actions and responses. Check out, what to expect:

With that in mind, the following announcement by Atlassians Co-Founder & CEO, Scott Farquhar to acquire Ops Genie made perfectly sense: prompt and reliable alerting is the critical first step in incident response. OpsGenie helps notify all the right people through a sophisticated combination of scheduling, escalation paths, and notifications that takes things like time zones and holidays into account.

Jira 8

With the announcement of Jira 8, Jira Server and Data Center will undergo a significant performance improvement. Atlassian shared an example of one of their biggest installations, where loading times have been reduced by more than 70 percent. Other feature additions and improvements include:

  • batch notifications that can be adapted to your needs, aiming to keep the email flood manageable;
  • a major overhaul of the search function;
  • the ability to share responsibilities / editing rights within dashboards.

Jira 8 will be available end of this year / beginning of 2019.

Jira Server Native App

Following the release of the native app for Confluence Server, an equivalent app for Jira Server was a long expected and well perceived next step. Key features include search, the commenting function as well as item transitioning.
